Professor Dr Mohammad Salahuddidn Shah is a renowned haematologist in
Bangladesh. He completed his SSC from Chirirbandar Pilot High School in
Dinajpur and his HSC from Rajshahi College with outstanding results. In
1991, he earned his MBBS degree from Mymensingh Medical College.
Driven
by unwavering passion for advanced medical studies, Dr Shah pursued
multiple specialized degrees and training. He obtained a Diploma in
Clinical Pathology (DCP) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical
University (BSMMU) in 1999, an MCPS in Clinical Pathology from
Bangladesh College of Physicians and surgeons in 2000, and an FCPS in
Haematology in 2004.
To expand his expertise internationally , Dr
Shah completed an IHTC Fellowship on Haemophilia and Coagulation
Disorders at the University of North Carolina, USA, in 2010. In 2013, he
undertook fellowships on Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation at
Princes Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane Hospital in Australia. In
2019, he completed ASH VTP training on Flowcytometry and
Haematopathology (Molecular Methodologies & Immunohistochemistry) at
Saint Luke’s Hospital in the United States. He also undertook various
short training related to Haematology & BMT from Malaysia, Belgium,
India, Singapore etc.
Throughout his career, Dr Shah has served
in various key roles at institutions such as Neurology Foundation
Hospital (NFH), Women’s Medical College Hospital (WMCH), Shaheed Ziaur
Rahman Medical College (SZMC), and National Institute of Cancer Research
and Hospital (NICRH).
In 2005, he joined BSMMU as an
Assistant Professor of Haematology, was promoted to Associate Professor
in 2013, and became a full Professor in 2020. From 2021 to 2024, he
served as the Chairman of the Department of Haematology.
Dr Shah led the first successful Bone Marrow Transplant at BSMMU, overseeing three successful transplants under his leadership.
His
expertise spans general Haematology, Haemato-oncology, Bone Marrow
Transplantation, Thalassaemia, Haemophilia and other complex blood
disorders.
Besides working in our country, he is also working
internationally as a member in different Haematology related
organization like TIF, WFH, ASH, EHA, BSH etc.
Currently,
Professor Dr Mohammad Salahuddin Shah serves as a Professor at BSMMU and
consults regularly at Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality
Centre.
